Prayer Partner Update – 06/30/2014

I thank my God every time I remember you . . . because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now (Philippians 1:3,5).

Thank you so much for upholding us in prayer. We absolutely know that we can not do this in our own strength and that we are dependent on your faith-full prayers. We’ve been busy but so has God. Join us in thanking him for the answers to our prayers.

  • Enjoying the New Life facility. We really like the Saturday night format but it is causing some conflicts with work schedules (but then there isn’t a perfect time in the modern world). We’ve also been going out to a local restaurant together after service together. That’s been fun.
  • We’re having new folks check us out on Saturday nights and a few are sticking. We hit our highest attendance so far, 22, in June. We feel a worship leader for the service would help us retain more.
  • The prep and execution of the CCU class has been consuming for Steve but it is going extremely well. He really enjoys seeing the light bulbs go on and the dots get connected for those young adults. Great evangelistic opportunity and connection to the young adult population of the valley.
  • God has called a new pastor to New Life Church and it has been confirmed by the congregation. Haven’t met him yet but pray that he will be Kingdom minded and comfortable with our mission and the launch of NineSevenZero Church. Also pray that his transition here and acclimation to a new church and community will go smoothly.
  • Our sermon series after Easter in the Book of James went well and we have started a new series in the Book of Mark that will take us through summer and to the public launch.

Please pray as the Spirit guides you but we would also appreciate you lifting the following up in prayer this week:

Touch-Points into our Greater Community:

  • Web & Social Media: The web site continues to develop, a media page that will include audio recordings of the sermons is almost done and will be added this month. The church’s Facebook page has 150 likes and the recent post of The Book of Mark – Chronicles of a Disciple sermon series was seen by almost 8,000 people in our community.
  • The local neighborhood: Still none of the neighbors around the church (NLC) have attended a Saturday night service. Pray that we might be able to establish relationships with a few folks in the local neighborhood.
  • Personal relationships with family, friends and coworkers: The Church is more than a building, more than a collection of programs, even more than the weekend service. To those of like faith it is the Family of God and to the world it is the living testimony of God’s Eternal Kingdom breaking into time and space.
  • Discipleship Groups:  We have the nucleus for a couple groups, the meeting places and the focus. We are planning to start them in September with the church public launch so we will be inviting people to more than a weekend service (multiple entry/connection points).
  • Celebrate Recovery: Retooling in progress. Working on finding a couple more leaders, particularly a lady. Also working on connecting to the larger recovery community here in the valley (AA, NA). Pray for the development of strategic connections with these groups and discovery of overcoming Christians that are looking for ministry opportunity and would be  willing to join the CR team.

NineSevenZero Church:

  • We have postponed our public launch because we have been unable to attract a worship leader for the team. This is CRITICAL and is our NUMBER ONE need at the moment. PLEASE PRAY for a true and skilled worshiper who will fit the chemistry of our team and the vision of the church. None of us on the team have the skills to do this well. We know that God has prepared someone for us. Pray that they will have the courage to respond to His call. We need them on board in August if we are going to meet our public launch date.
  • We are planning a block party in August to reach out to the neighborhood around NLC. We are waiting for approval from the NLC council and then will need governmental approval for the event and canvasing. Please pray for favor and the planning of this event.
  • Canvasing the neighborhood during the day (M-F) around NLC hasn’t been fruitful. I’m thinking a late Sunday morning canvas might be just the thing since if they are home they likely don’t have a home church.
  • Please pray for creative ideas for the Fall Launch that will help us target our promotions and connect with people who are looking for a church like ours or more importantly need the hope of the Gospel and the reality of God’s love.

Team – Personal Needs:

  • Please pray for continued provision, protection and God’s favor in our community. God is faithfully meeting our daily needs!
  • Please pray for strength, health and discernment in making right decisions in our personal lives.
  • Steve – teaching the class at CCU has already provided some wonderful evangelistic and discipleship opportunities. Please pray that he will have the wisdom and discernment to help these young adults with more than just the course work.
  • Amanda and the baby’s health.
  • Traveling mercies for Zach as he travels home and then on to see his fiance. Also for Jon, Kate & Jack as they travel to Alabama and Florida on vacation seeing Jon’s family.

 NineSevenZero Church Planting Team Members:

  • Steve & Sue Peschke
  • Jon & Kate Drackett (Jackson, son)
  • Nathan & Amanda Haws (baby)
  • Zach Bruzelius
