Prayer Partner Update – 08/17/2014

I thank my God every time I remember you . . . because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now (Philippians 1:3,5).

Thank you so much for holding us up in prayer. So much to be grateful for and so much that we desperately need God’s help with. We know we can’t do it ourselves and that much of the work can only be done in prayer.

Thanksgiving and Answered Prayers:

  • Biological church growth – three gals in our church are expecting and doing well. (It’s a slow way to grow a church 🙂 )
  • Our relationship with New Life Church is going well (the facility we are renting). They have been very accommodating and supportive of our mission. So refreshing to work with Kingdom minded brothers and sisters. We have been praying for them as they called a new pastor. He is moving in this week and is expected to preach on Sunday. We are looking forward to meeting him.
  • Steve’s class at CCU went very well. They have offered him another class later this Fall. He is also teaching a class for the district’s School of Ministry in September.
  • NLC gave us permission to utilize their facility on 9/20 to host a Block Party for the neighborhoods around the church.

Please pray as the Spirit guides you but we would also appreciate you lifting the following up in prayer this week:

Touch-Points into our Greater Community:

  • Web & Social Media: The web site continues to develop, a media page that includes audio recordings of the sermons is now complete. Pray for Facebook campaigns that will feature the churches web page in August and the Block Party and Launch in September.
  • The local neighborhood: Still none of the neighbors around the church (NLC) have attended a Saturday night service. Pray that as we canvas the area for the Block Party that we might be able to establish relationships with a few folks in that neighborhood as well as with those in the neighborhoods where we live.
  • Personal relationships with family, friends and coworkers: The Church is more than a building, more than a collection of programs, even more than the weekend service. Pray that we might reveal the Gospel in our compassion and God’s family in the way we live.
  • Discipleship Groups: We are launching two new small groups on October 8, right after the public launch. FIGHT (by Craig Groeschel) will be the content for a Men’s Group and Beth Moore’s new study, Children of the Day, will be used for the Women’s Group. These groups will meet on Wednesday nights.
  • Celebrate Recovery: Relaunching on 9/8 after a summer break. Still working on finding a couple more leaders, particularly a lady. Also working on connecting to the larger recovery community here in the valley (AA, NA). Pray for the development of strategic connections with these groups and discovery of overcoming Christians that are looking for ministry opportunity.

NineSevenZero Church:

  • We are planning a Block Party to be held at the church facility on September 20. We will have amusements, games and food to provide a context to meet and have fun with those that live near the church.
  • Our public launch date is locked in for September 27. We’ll start a new sermon series addressing some of the basic questions of life which we’ve entitled, iWONDER?”. We will be mailing 10,000 postcards within a 2-3 mile radius around the church early in September inviting them to check out the church and the new sermon series.
  • We are still praying for a worship leader to join the team. This is the most CRITICAL need at the moment. PLEASE PRAY for a true and skilled worshiper who will fit the chemistry of our team and the vision of the church. None of us on the team have the skills to do this well. We know that God has prepared someone for us. Pray that they will have the courage to respond to His call. We need them on board in August if we are going to meet our public launch date. Time is running out on our timetable.
  • Please pray for our promotions and outreach that we might connect with people who are looking for a church like ours or more importantly need the hope of the Gospel and the reality of God’s love.
  • Discernment in selecting our next service/ministry project in the community.
  • Summer attendance has been sketchy (nothing new there). People on vacations and enjoying summer recreation. Public school and the colleges have started now so we’re hoping to add to our numbers before the public launch.

Team – Personal Needs:

  • Please pray for continued provision, protection and God’s favor in our community. God is faithfully meeting our daily needs!
  • Please pray for strength, health and discernment in making right decisions in our personal lives.
  • Sue has lost her job and is in the process of looking for another.
  • Kate and the baby’s health.
  • Amanda and the baby’s health.
  • Traveling mercies for Nathan and Amanda as they travel back to Missouri for vacation and a family baby shower.
