Prayer Partner Update – 5/28/2013

We are so thankful that you are interceding on behalf of NineSevenZero Church, our communities, the team and our families.  We have been receiving answers to your prayers and God has been evident in the circumstances of our lives and the formation of the church. Pray as the Spirit guides you but we would also appreciate you lifting the following needs up in prayer this week. THANK YOU!

Scripture Focus for the Week:

The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.(Matt 9:37-38)

Updates & Answered Prayer:

  • Nathan & Amanda were able to purchase a second car that should meet their needs and fit their budget.
  • Pastor Paul Espinoza has given his approval for a joint venture to start a Celebrate Recovery chapter hosted by Junction Community Church.
  • Dr. John Gowins, Director of Eagles Nest Ministries and Pastor of Ouray Assembly, has been selected to be our planting coach.
  • 8 new Prayer Partners

Grand Valley:

  • The general population in the Grand Valley is 10% below national averages for expressing any faith preference and over 60 % of the population is either not involved or is only marginally involved in a church. Most of the existing congregations and their clergy are old and do not reflect the generational and ethnic diversity of our communities. While there are a few large church in the valley, most are very small. Most of the newer churches are the result of church splits not planting efforts.
  • The downtown and central portion of the city has no AG church since Grand Junction First Assembly moved out in 2010 and became Victory Life Church.
  • Favor and opportunity for team members to connect with people in the context of the workplace, marketplace and community service.
  • Area Pastors and Churches:
    • Pastor Paul Espinoza, Junction Community Church
    • Pastor Bob Cook, Victory Life Church
    • Pastor Rex Townsley, Stillwater Cowboy Church

NineSevenZero Church:

  • Endorsement as a Rocky Mountain District church plant. The next/final step in the district process is approval by the presbytery (expected at their meeting in July). This will establish our 501(c)3 status and enable us to finalize our bylaws.
  • Expanding the Prayer Partners (thru email/direct solicitation and new landing page on web site)
  • Building of Strategic Alliances:
    • Junction Community Church, Pastor Paul Espinoza (working together to start a Celebrate Recovery ministry to reach people dealing with life controlling addictions and habits in the Grand Valley). Planning for a summer training leadership small group and a fall 2013 launch.
    • Hope of the Grand Valley, Vickie McGee, Director
  • Financial resourcing of the church plant
  • District encouraging us to attend a Church Planters Bootcamp. (camp availability, time off from work and funding for transportation)
  • For God to send workers to join our core & launch teams (Matt 9:37-38)
    • Worship Leader – a true and skilled worshipper who will train and build teams. Humble in heart with a teachable spirit and that fits the chemistry of our team and the vision of the church.
    • Ministry leaders and faithful/dedicated servants who will labor with us and support the launch of NineSevenZero Church

Team – Personal Needs:

  • Provision, protection and God’s favor for the planting team and their families
  • Amanda is already being considered by her employer for a significant promotion
  • Kate has the possibility of a promotion at her employer. Prayer for discernment should she be offered the position.
  • Steve has applied for a new position at his current employer. Should find out 1st week of June.
  • Apartment lease is ending soon for Steve & Sue. (hoping for a place with dishwasher and laundry hookups)
