Prayer Partner Update – 6/20/2013

Prayer Partner Update – 6/20/2013

The next few months will set our course for the next three-five years. We are dependent on and so grateful for your intercession on our behalf.  Pray as the Spirit guides you but we would also appreciate you lifting the following needs up in prayer this week. THANK YOU!

Scripture Focus for the Week:

The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.(Matt 9:37-38)

Once we receive district approval we will need to find someone to be our worship leader. While we can continue the start and development of small & support groups, we will be unable to launch our public services without this key team member. We’ve already gotten some no thank you’s but that is a an answer to our prayers too. We want the right person and we know that God is already preparing and calling that person. Please pray for that individual and the courage/faith to respond.

Updates & Answered Prayer:

  • Kate was promoted and accepted a new position.
  • Steve received a contract offer to teach a class for Colorado Christian University this Fall (Spiritual Formation) at their Grand Junction campus.

Grand Valley:

  • The general population in the Grand Valley is 10% below national averages for expressing any faith preference and over 60 % of the population is either not involved or is only marginally involved in a church. Most of the existing congregations and their clergy are old and do not reflect the generational and ethnic diversity of our communities. While there are a few large churches in the valley, most are very small. Most of the newer churches are the result of church splits not planting efforts. The downtown and central portion of the city has no AG church since Grand Junction First Assembly moved out in 2010 and became Victory Life Church.
  • Favor and opportunity for team members to connect with people in the context of the workplace, marketplace and community service.
  • Area Pastors and Churches:
    • Pastor Tim Nutting, new church plant in the Redlands (Downtown Vineyard Church)
    • Pastor Ronnie Higuera, new church plant in Palisade (Canyon View Vineyard Church)

NineSevenZero Church:

  • Endorsement as a Rocky Mountain District church plant. The next/final step in the district process is approval by the presbytery (expected at their meeting July 9-10). This will establish our 501(c)3 status, enable us to finalize our bylaws and begin the process of raising funds.
  • Expanding the Prayer Partners (thru email/direct solicitation and new landing page on web site).
  • Church Facebook page has 81″likes”. Now it is critical for us to expand the number of Grand Valley folks to increase our local exposure.
  • Funds for Launch Team to attend church planter bootcamp (Essentials training) September, 2013 in Pittsburg (travel, lodging and meals). Registration and travel arrangements to be made as soon as the district approves our application. Team members will also need to get time off from their employers to attend.
  • For God to send workers to join our planting & launch teams (Matt 9:37-38). These folks might be residents of the Grand Valley or Kingdom minded folks that would relocate here to help us launch the church.
    • Worship Leader – a true and skilled worshipper who will train and build teams. Humble in heart with a teachable spirit and that fits the chemistry of our team and the vision of the church.
    • Co-leader(s) for the Celebrate Recovery support group that will be launching this fall
    • Ministry leaders and faithful/dedicated servants who will labor with us and support the launch of NineSevenZero Church

Team – Personal Needs:

  • Provision, protection and God’s favor for the planting team and their families
  • Amanda and Nathan discernment and wisdom in their secular employment
  • Nathan started a new job this week at Sleep Number.
  • Kate accepted a new position at Colorado West Mental Health.
  • Steve did not get the position but was asked to apply for another position at StarTek. Still applying for better paying jobs.

 NineSevenZero Church Planting Team Members:

  • Steve & Sue Peschke
  • Jon & Kate Drackett (Jackson, son)
  • Nathan & Amanda Haws
