WATER – A Community`s Life Blood

WATER – A Community`s Life Blood

charity:water Fall 2012 campaign bannerThe Colorado River is the life blood of the Grand Valley. It provides irrigation for our agriculture and homes, water for our ranches and their herds, supplies a majority of drinking water for our communities, and also supports the diverse wildlife of the high desert. Water is an integral component of the region’s agricultural, recreation, tourist, and even the oil/gas industries. People of the Western Slope understand the importance of water to life, economy, and enjoyment. Water is valuable and water rights are serious business here.

Water – that’s why we at ninesevenzero church are pleased to partner with charity:water and champion their 2012 Fall Campaign to raise funds for fresh water projects in Rwanda. 100% of the funds raised through the September Campaign will go to water projects in the SHYORONGI and NGOMA sectors of Rulindo. Even though the region has numerous rivers and ample rainfall, 70% of the people of Rulindo lack clean drinking water. 80% of the sicknesses effecting the people of Rwanda are water-born diseases. 20% of the deaths of children under 5 are due to diarrhea. We’re are joining charity:water in tackling the water crisis in these two sectors of Rwanda and to give almost 26,000 people there clean, safe water. Click the link below for more information.

Water Changes Everything

Water is an astonishingly complex and subtle force in an economy. It is the single constraint on the expansion of every city, and bankers and corporate executives have cited it as the only natural limit to economic growth. – Margaret Catley-Carlson, Vice-Chair, World Economic Forum
