This is The Way – Devo Day 47

In the Middle of a Cultural Pivot 13 That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14 and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17 And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding…

This is The Way – Devo Day 45

The Church – A Holy Contagion 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by…

This is The Way – Devo Day 40

1 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:1–3 (ESV) In the first chapter of this letter, Peter showed the wonder of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ. Now he shifts his emphasis to show the status that Christians have as…

This is The Way – Devo Day 28

Jesus Prays for His Disciples – John 17:14-23 14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your…

Who Are You, REALLY?

How would you answer the question – Who Are You, REALLY? Some of us would immediately think of their occupation, what they do for a living. Some would think of their family position, father, mother, husband, wife. Some would find their answer in their ethnicity, nationality or family of origin. Some would find their identity in what they’ve done, their accomplishments or their failures. And then some would focus on their skills or talents. While all of these certainly contribute…

Sharefest 2017

Saturday, April 29th, 9 am to 1 pm Every year Christians of the Grand Valley link arms to show the folks of our community the love of Jesus. FirePower

The Holy Spirit is the most misunderstood member of the Trinity – which explains the “power outage” in the Church today and in the lives of so many Christians! If you are tired of living a powerless life. If you are hungry for a fresh touch of God’s Spirit, then tap into FirePower this Spring. For the 50 days leading up to Easter we will be seeking a deeper encounter and relationship with the Holy Spirit through anointed preaching and…

LIFE Redefined – Lessons from the Sermon on the Mount

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount contains some of the most widely known passages of his teaching ministry yet they are probably the least obeyed. It is his clearest description of the nature of the Kingdom he came to inaugurate, yet it establishes a standard beyond our experience and even our ability. Jesus’ sermon is filled with contrasts between citizens of his Kingdom and those of the world, between his subjects and the outwardly religious. He quotes often from the Torah but says…

Discerning the Call of God – Introduction

What is God’s call on my life? Most Christians have wrestled with that question and some of us multiple times. Many get frustrated and simply give up thinking it is not possible to know the mind of God. A few turn it into a mystical quest and others think they can verbally strong-arm God making him reveal it by saying the “right things.” Part of our problem is that God doesn’t always communicate it to us in a way we want or expect it. How often…

Be Rich In Good Deeds

The 1st Century Church not known for their temples, their theology or even the miracles. The thing that caused their world to sit up and take notice was the crazy generosity and compassion that the followers of Jesus displayed toward one another and those around them. That counter-cultural characteristic of the early Christian Church propelled them to the forefront of the Greco-Roman world. They had no political, economic or religious clout yet they change their world and all of history since…

Follow – Amazingly Simple, Incredibly Hard

Following – how hard can that be? On the surface it sounds pretty straightforward. And following a person is amazingly simple. Simple enough for a child. But when the one you are following is Jesus it’s a different story. It may be simple but it is not easy. As a matter of fact it is incredibly hard. So hard that most won’t even try, some give up and many just pretend. We’re going to look at what it means to be a real follower of…

2014 Christmas Project

HOPE of the Grand Valley’s mission is to provide support and a hand up to hard-working parents and their children who and are not receiving welfare, or housing assistance. HOPE of the Grand Valley…
