Prayer Partner Update – 09/01/2014

I thank my God every time I remember you . . . because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now (Philippians 1:3,5).

Thank you so much for holding us up in prayer. This is it – September 2014. This is the month we go public. We have come to the end of us and are totally relying on God for the rest. Pray for God’s favor in our effort, His miraculous provision, and His Spirit’s work in the hearts of men, women and children.

Thanksgiving and Answered Prayers:

  • Biological church growth – three gals in our church are expecting and doing well. (It’s a slow way to grow a church 🙂 )
  • Our relationship with New Life Church is going well (the facility we are renting). They have been very accommodating and supportive of our mission.
  • Preparations for Block Party and Launch are going well.

Please pray as the Spirit guides you but we would also appreciate you lifting the following up in prayer this week:

Touch-Points into our Greater Community:

  • Web & Social Media: The web site continues to develop, a media page that includes audio recordings of the sermons is now complete. Pray for Facebook campaigns that will feature the churches web page in August and the Block Party and Launch in September. We got hacked in August and I spent a lot of time restoring the site. It’s not completely done but enough is done to support the launch.
  • The local neighborhood: Still none of the neighbors around the church (NLC) have attended a Saturday night service. Pray that as we canvas the area for the Block Party that we might be able to establish relationships with a few folks in that neighborhood as well as with those in the neighborhoods where we live. We will be canvasing the complete neighborhood around the church for the Block Party. Pray for conversations and meetings.
  • Personal relationships with family, friends and coworkers: The Church is more than a building, more than a collection of programs, even more than the weekend service. Pray that we might reveal the Gospel in our compassion and God’s family in the way we live.
  • Discipleship Groups: We are launching two new small groups on October 8, right after the public launch. FIGHT (by Craig Groeschel) will be the content for a Men’s Group and Beth Moore’s new study, Children of the Day, will be used for the Women’s Group. These groups will meet on Wednesday nights.
  • Celebrate Recovery: Relaunching on 9/29 after a summer break. Still working on finding a couple more leaders, particularly a lady. The meetings with AA & NA leaders in the area didn’t yield anything at this point..

NineSevenZero Church:

  • BLOCK PARTY – everything is planned, ordered and ready to go. The neighborhood canvasing will take place 9/13-19.
  • Public Launch –  We’ll start a new sermon series addressing some of the basic questions of life which we’ve entitled, iWONDER?”. A postcard direct mail piece is done and being printed. We will be mailing 10,000 postcards within a 2 mile radius around the church  inviting them to check out the church and the new sermon series. It is schedule to be delivered 9/19-25.
  • We are still praying for a worship leader to join the team. It looks like we will launch without one but we’ll continue to search and invite. PLEASE PRAY for a true and skilled worshiper who will fit the chemistry of our team and the vision of the church. None of us on the team have the skills to do this well. We are trusting that God has prepared someone for us and it’s just not the right time.
  • Discernment in selecting our next service/ministry project in the community.
  • We need more people to be attending before the launch. Pray for our conversations with folks this month as we ask for commitments and for them to serve.

Team – Personal Needs:

  • Please pray for continued provision, protection and God’s favor in our community. God is faithfully meeting our daily needs!
  • Please pray for strength, health and discernment in making right decisions in our personal lives.
  • Sue has lost her job and is in the process of looking for another.
  • Steve is teaching a class for the district’s School of Ministry September 12/13 in Salt Lake City.
  • Kate and the baby’s health.
  • Amanda and the baby’s health.

 NineSevenZero Church Planting Team Members:

  • Steve & Sue Peschke
  • Jon & Kate Drackett (Jackson & baby)
  • Nathan & Amanda Haws (baby-boy)
  • Zach Bruzelius
